Luxury Soy Candle - Care & Safety
Please follow these tips on how to care for and enjoy your beautiful candle.
Candle Care
The first burn of your soy candle is the most important to ensure you get a lovely even burn throughout the life of your candle. Wax has a memory so on the first use of your candle, burn until the top of the wax has melted all the way out to the edge of the container. This may take around 3-4 hours, but don’t burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
We recommend you repeat this process every time you light the candle to prevent tunnelling, where you accumulate leftover wax on the sides of the container.
To extinguish your candle we suggest using a snuffer to ‘snuff’ out the flame or a wick dipper. Use the tip of the wick dipper (or the tip of a screwdriver or similar non-flammable item) to dip the wick in the wax to extinguish, then use it to straighten the wick out ready for the next burn.
If the wick gets too large it can mushroom and soot, therefore, for best results, always trim the wick to 5mm when the wax has reset. A wick trimmer, or even nail clippers, will work well.
The top of your soy candle may set a little uneven after burn - this is a characteristic of hand poured natural soy wax and will not affect the quality or scent throw of your candle.
Candle Safety
Always place lit candles on a level, heat-resistant and non-flammable surface.
Do not let candles burn in a draft or close to a heat source as this will cause the flame to smoke and burn unevenly.
Do not leave a burning candle unattended and keep well away from flammable materials.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Keep the candle free from foreign materials, including matches and wick trimmings.
Container may become hot during use. Do not move or tip candle whilst lit, always extinguish first and allow it to cool.
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Always trim the wick to 5mm for a safe and even burn.
Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles.
Extinguish candle when 5mm of wax remains in the container and do not relight.
